I see that these machines came with two controls, the Fanuc and the Yasnac control, seems to be that the machines that have the Yasnac are cheaper, so I am wondering what the main differences are? Thanks!

Mori Seiki DuraVertical 635 Eco, won't accept G20 or G21
Does anyone know how to set the Fanuc controller to respond to a G20 or G21? When either is in a program, I get an alarm 078 "number not found". The other peculiar thing on this machine is that I also can't change the input units from the setting screen. The setting for the input units is visible on the screen but the cursor passes over it, it's not an active switch. The only way I could figure out to change the unit settings is to set bit #2 on parameter #0000 to either 0 or 1 depending on whether I want to run inches or MM.
Thanks,
Gordon

I too, have parameters question (NX series)
Just got a new job dealing with production parts on some Mori's. These are "turn-key" machines.
I'm having the most issues with the chip conveyer. It moves at a rather slow pace, we make more chips than it's removing currently. This is leading to it throwing a thermal code and stopping production, and we sometimes have to vac out chips. No idea where to edit this.
And another thing, but this is just annoying. Being production: it has a buzzer for alarms and when parts arnt loaded. It's annoying. So annoying, It's all I hear in my head right now. Theirs GOT to be a way to turn it off, or change it's frequency to something that doesn't make me want to punch babies...
Anyone deal with these before?

New Machine day- At the day job
We got Two new machines in today. Unfortunately they are already booked with orders, so itll be a while before I get into either. So im patiently waiting, as we are adding 20,000 more sq ft to the building right now, and it looks as though we are ultimately making an effort to become more 5th axis oriented. And Im lying...Im not being patient at all.

Maho 600e and rigid tapping.
so my friend is poking at a 600e. its late 80's with the pull down guards. no tool changer, and a big induction motor for the spindle.
my reading tells me that this machine has no vfd, and thus only changes speeds with gears. is this correct, and if so, does this mean tapping is not available on it?

Waking older Mori Seiki SL-2
I started at a new place of employment and it is a manual shop BUT has a older Mori that would be very useful in running some of the jobs I have seen so far.
Attached are pictures of the machine, I have been told it has been dormant for at least
2 years, cobwebs all over it.
I have not looked to see what kind of tooling is available for it yet, wanting to see if it
will even fire up and has any memory in it.
What procedure should I follow to see if this thing still has life in her.

Mapps4 part counter?
Anyone know what the trick is to get the on-screen parts counter to work? The manual only really covers the physical parts counter, which these machines are not equipped with.
It's visible on screen, but it stays at "0" all the time.
They are NHX machines with a pallet system. I hope it's something as simple as inserting a block of code.

Soft start
I'm wondering if there is a soft start on Heidenhain 530.
I have to use a large boring head (about 16.5" dia and 16" long) and I'm afraid to start it at full RPM.
I can start it at say 50 RPM and slowly increase it to full but if there is a M code I can use please let me know.

Could use a little advise!
I need to replace the X and Y axis slide way seals on a Mori Seiki SL-150 (SMC-Y). We are in the health, science and medical end of manufacturing and this oil leak is something I need to address sooner than later. Thank you to any one with some advise on this.

NL2500 w/MC C-Axis Toolpaths?
im programming a mori nl2500 with mastercam x6. I'm not sure if this is gonna be a master cam, NL2500 or post problem but if i use a lathe c-axis drilling tool path when i run it in the machine after it drills the first hole the live tool spindle turns off and doesn't turn back on for the rest of the holes. looks like an M13 turns the spindle on and theres one at the top of the post but thats the only one. you should only need one though and have the spindle turning the whole time. if anyone could point me in the right direction you'd be greatly appreciated. thank you. oh and i also noticed it posted with a G55 instead of G54 like it always does. not all operations were posted with G55 though just the c-axis ones.

Parameter to switch machine from inch to metric?
Just got a new mori NHX5000 in (mappsIV/mitsu730 controls)
It's set to inch, I need everything to be metric.
Anybody got any ideas on what parameters/settings need to be changed? I can't figure it out, and Mori won't be in for a few days.

Mori SL-4A Fanuc 11TE Battery - Where Is It? Oil Question Too.
We have a new-to-us Mori Seiki SL-4A that we are trying to get up and running. I'm trying to replace the Fanuc 11TE memory battery but can't seem to locate it and I am hoping someone on here can help. I'm trying to avoid the complete loss of parameters...
Please see the attached pictures of the inside of the control pendant, Fanuc cabinet (has both axis drives), and the power cabinet (has the spindle drive).
As the above question might suggest, we don't have any manuals that came with the machine, so we are also looking for what way oil we should use as well.
Anybody have a set of manual for a 1986 Mori Seiki SL-4A with a Fanuc 11TE controller? I'm not looking for a free manual...
Thanks in advance!
-Ben

89 Maho MH600C Y axis problems
My Maho MH600C has been working well for several years with no issues. I went to home it yesterday and it gave an 09 error in vertical Y axis (Z axis as I am configured). I had the 4 the axis dividing head on the table so I took that off to remove some weight. Same error. I tried reversing the direction to home by changing constant 280 to reverse the limit switch approach direction and same error. I removed dynamic following in that axis and now no error but the axis still does not move.
However, I noticed that after pressing the -Z once, the Y axis (Z axis as I am configured) servo motor was spinning until I reset the control. No weird noises, just the sound of the servo spinning if you get close to it. I cant get in there to see until I remove the apron. Im guessing that just requires removing the top and bottom button head allens at the hinges. Not much room to see even then as the table is all the way down. I might just lift it up a few inches. Think its either a broken drive belt or something funky with the clutch. The axis does not drift during any of this. Anyone have any suggestions? I dont see any reference to mechanical problems with the Y axis on the forum.

Sorry guys I hope I'm putting this in the correct spot.
But I accidentally pushed a button and deleted all my programs. Which I'm not worry about except for my tool change macro program. O9001 I think. Can anyone give me that program and any others that I'm not aware that I've lost. This a 10m controller.
Thanks in advance

Broaching with DMU 50
Hi guys!
I'm planning to purchase an used DMU 50 Ecoline or DMU 50 Evo. One very important thing is that I'm going to use that VMC also for keyway and spline broaching. So my question is that has anybody used those VMC's for broaching or is it even possible with older machines (year 1997-1999)?
