MAHO MH700 S Parameter help.

$

I recently acquired a Maho MH 700 S machine . It had been setting without power for several months. We put power to it, and after a lot of cleaning and leak repairs it came to life ! I actually ran a couple of jobs. The batteries had saved the parameters ! HALLELUJAH !!!!
Well as fate would have it I powered down the machine over Christmas break, and when powering back up, it appears the battery's went to Hell and a Handbasket ! Of course I never got around to doing a parameter back-up. Now after searching the books and STUFF that came with the machine , I cannot find a list of the parameters.
I am wondering if any of you wonderful PM members, might have such a list ? or might have a clue where I may find such a list ?
Now I am dead in the water.:bawling:

Hi everyone,
I've been on practical machinist since 2008 under a different username, I have mostly used this site to read all the great information that is here.
I've decided to venture into the world of CNC, I went with an old industrial machine rather than a Tormach as it would've cost more to buy the Tormach.

There is going to be a steep learning curve, I've purchased Fusion 360 for my cad/cam and I'll have a youtube channel of my progress with the Mori.
All the best.
Grant.

NL2500 Grooving CSS

I am currently working on the implementation of a Mori NL2500. Things for the most part are sorting themselves out however we are finding ourselves scratching our heads trying get our grooving cycles to default to a CSS (G96) instead of a constant RPM (G97) when programming using CAPS. You can manually change to a G96 by manually entering a negative value in the field however we would love to get it to default to a G96. Anyone out there know how this can be done? We can't figure out why a grooving cycle would default to a G97.

Any advice is GREATLY appreciated!

I have a Maho 600 E with a Phillips 432 control on it.
I am frequently getting an Error Message X02 ( Alarm Measuring system Error)
It can happen with the axis moving and sometimes when it is stopped.

Has anyone encountered anything similar?
If so what was the cause?

Twitching spindle on orient "ORT" MV40b 1992 Fanuc

Hi,
playing around with the machine today and it looks like I've found a couple of faults.
The tool changing isn't behaving properly all the time and one thing I noticed is when the "ORT" light is on the spindle will twitch causing the "ORT" light to blink and it has caused the odd tool change to fail. It seems to me like the servo needs to be tuned.
I did search and someone suggested that timing belt at the top of the spindle is slack causing the servo to hunt for its "ORT" position.
Thanks,
Grant.

Hi,
I'm trying to set the tool numbers and when I press the "WRITE" soft key I get the message "**MISS SETTING**" and if I try to set an empty pot with -1 in the MG I get the same message.

Any help would appreciated.
Thanks,

Mori NL2500 Breaking Live Tool Tang

Anyone else have this or a similar issue (see title)?

The machine keeps breaking the live tool tangs. I've noticed that there was a design revision to the tangs which includes a radius at the tang base and a larger chamfer to help align the tang in the guide rails. The older style are the ones that seem to break. The machine is down until this can be resolved as it is used for production.

This has been an occasional issue over the past few years, but now it's turning into a $30k repair!

This machine is used only to cut aluminum...

Baptists Threading question? Mori NLX using Capps

I'm doing a 1" bspt thread on a dmg Mori seiki NLX 2500 using CAPPS, in the threading program the data asks for a reference diameter c and reference length, would this be your basic diameter at the gauge plane length?? Or am I going wrong? The simulation looks ok when I do it but would rather ask you guys before cutting!

Hope someone can help me on this one I'm really struggling!

Thanks!

Old shop owner, new to forum, new to Mahos

Hello all, first my user name is because my shop is located in Fox Alaska. I have been doing machine work for over 30 years. I have also worked in many associated industrial fields.

My shop is mostly populated with manual machines, we make complete machines, and short-run production parts, generally 6-200 parts per run. My website is ugly, but You can see some of our older machine builds at howeesmachine.com. The last time I programmed a CNC machine was 1979, of course that was punch tape & I remember the concept, but will need to learn the rest again. I have Solidworks, and Turbocad, and also Autocad 2000, but I do not use the Autocad, I mostly use Solidworks.
Summer before last I purchased 2 MH800C, 5 axis mills from York at European Machine Tools. Currently I machine mostly alloy steel 6150, 4140. I envision using one machine to work with the daily customer stuff, and the other for a rifle manufacturing project I have started, so it would make aluminum molds (for wax injection, to produce shell mold castings), and milling on smaller steel & bronze parts.

Both machines had old memory batteries, and hence lost the constants, I have the constants on paper, and CD. I have the factory operation/maintenance, and the electrical. One is a swivel/rotary table with 432-10 control serial #85354, the other is a rotary table with swivel head control is 532-600? or was it 6000? Serial #85700

My initial hold-up in getting the machines running, has been both the "pesky customers" wanting their parts, and also my desire to install the wiring the way I wanted it.

I currently have both machines hard wired to a 380v 150A 3ph transformer & sub panel with spots open for other machines, including an older Agie 200 wire-cut EDM that I bought a few years ago.

The shop is supplied by 2 meters, one 480v 3ph & the other 240 1ph. Shop is 5000 sq. ft. has a 5 ton overhead crane, good lighting, and is way too crowded.

After much searching, I found out about the N80 C not = 0 setting to allow setting other constants, and slowly loaded the constants in the 432 machine. Before loading the constants, the hydraulic pump would come on & not stay latched, after the constants, the hydraulics have latched on for up to 40 seconds twice. Currently the hydraulics will not come on at all, errors sometimes I01, and always I05. I do not know if this is coincidence, but just before the hydraulic quit coming on, I had manually closed the coolant pump contactor to test, and cycled all the breakers (I have seen these same style Siemens breakers cause problems with manual machines many times before). I find the Maho schematics hard to use, I do not have a full grasp of the hydraulic pump contactor coil chain of supply. I will study the diagrams more, but for now, I will start putting the constants into the 532 machine. The 532 is better for a current job as it has the larger table, but I thought the 432, with fewer constants might be easier to get going.

Does a true repair manual exist? Something that lists the full function/range of each of the constants would be nice?

What is the hydraulic pressure supposed to be?

I have purchased many new Cat40 holders, but I need to know what pull studs to buy? Neither machine has any of the blocking pins in the tool chain, nor the spindle.

Thank You, John Howe

Maho 432 control question

Machine: Maho 1000
Control: Philips 432

A brief background: My client has had this machine for several years. A year ago it was having several control issues. At that time we removed all the power supplies, drives and the Philips rack. We cleaned all the boards, replaced the weak capacitors, curved trace all the IGBT's, cooling fans and fixed cold solder joints, etc... We reinstalled everything and the machine has worked well for the last year.

Now to the discrepancy / question I have: The electrical drawings I have show the input and output cards and the bits that we see on the screen in real time. Currently we are missing the CNC Ready (output card 1, bit 2) There is no 24v output coming from the output card which in turns goes to the relay board #1 Relay 19K1. My question, is there a logic diagram or some other way to find out what is needed in order to satisfy the requirements for this output? (and, or, nor, ladder logic type info) How do you determine what is required, as far as inputs, internal logic etc... in order to get an output to turn on?
I'm including a picture of the circuit mentioned above.

Thank you for any ideas.

DMG MORI MILLTAP 700 - Comments

Hello!!!

I am looking for my 1st, small, vertical cnc.
I have experience in old DECKEL machines which has good materials and uses lower energy than other machines.
I find very interesting the DMG MORI MILLTAP 700 with 24.000 rpm.

Which is your opinion about this machine?
Is anyone here who has this machine? If yes, i would like to tell me the disadvantages (what you find not good) in this machine? (then tell me the advantages :) )

Thanks for your time.

Has anyone had a 47*sp.stop error on a Mori Seiki MVJR?

I developed a "47*sp.stop" Error today, has anyone had any experience with this?

It is on my MVJr

I believe it went like this

I think my spindle was stopped
I homed the z axis
Right at the top I heard a change in sound like a fan kicked out
I don't think that there were any errors at this time
I went to look in my cabinet to see if any breakers were tripped
The DA I am opened the door not realizing my interlock key was set to on and tripped the machine
While it was off I checked some breaker and none were tripper
I turned the Main breaker back on
I turned on the control panel
And there was the error

It just happened today, I have not had anytime to look at the machine and the spindle will not run.
Here is what the manual says

"
Coil name MER62
Address #1512.1
The spindle stop detection signal did not turn on within the predetermined time limit although no rotation command was given.
The spindle stop detection signal can be monitored by DGN #1018.3
If the signal does not become "1" even though the spindle is stopped, the wiring or the servo unit may get in trouble.
The time must be set at #7025
(Standard setting: 70).
"

I would feel bad if my wiring or spindle were to get in trouble, so if anyone might have some pointer please feel free to chime in.

Thanks Folks
Andy

G61 / M28 Issue Mori NZX2000/800SY2

Hello everybody,

We have recently installed in our house a brand new Mori NZX2000/800SY2 meaning 2 turret's and 2 y's axis. Really strong and beautiful machine.

After producing a fair easy part for a while time has come to change the set up for a new part.

Please have a look at the attached drawing. The issue is located in the internal chamfer of 30 degrees.

After finishing the whole set up and programming the first parts arrived at the QC where the result was unbelievable. The mentioned chamfer of 30 degrees was 32 actually!!

After thinking a little bit i used G61 and M28 (i have the page that explains both in the attached files)

However the result wasn't good.

Regarding the cutting tools ,we use a carbide holder of Φ10 and we have a pre-drilled hole of Φ15 so rigidity issues of the cutting tool is out of the question. Furthermore the same tooling was used in another machine for the same part with no problems at all.

Please have a look at the attached g-code.

Please give me your thoughts , anything but anything , my mind is driving me crazy.

Thank you in advance.

Rigid Tapping- Mori NH4000

first time tapping over here on the Mori... using M29 at 1000rpm G95 F.01785 for a 2-56 STI.

I notice that once it hits its depth it is doubling the feed and speed for the retract... now it probably goes without saying, my threads are out of spec... may have something to do with material and or my SFM but im curious as to if there is a parameter that controls the retract speeds. Id like to see it feed out at the same speed.

Thanks in advance!

SH400/403 Tool Breakage detection install

$

Hey all,
I'm working with an older SH403 (late 90's) to install a Positive Contact PCS-100 Tool Breakage Detection System. It has a Fanuc 16i or 18i in the brains. I'm just wondering if anyone has done a similar install on an SH series HMC before.
I'm not quite sure where to mount the actual sensor or what to wire in the Start, Fault, OK, and Reset commands into.

If any of you have done this and have advice or examples it would be very helpful.

Thank you in advance!
